Murder of Lies™ · Legal

Privacy Policy

Effective August 24, 2026 · Version 4 · Help Protect, LLC

The short versionWe collect what is needed to operate and protect the game. We do not sell personal information, share it for behavioral advertising, use ad networks, or train AI models on your dialogue.

1. Who this covers

This policy covers Murder of Lies apps, any web version, related account-control pages, the helpprotect.net contact form, and their online services. The controller is Help Protect, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company in the United States. Contact us through helpprotect.net.

2. Information we process

We receive this information from you, your device, gameplay, teammates, and Apple or Google services. The app/browser also keeps ordinary local settings and limited play state on your device.

3. How we use it

We use information to provide accounts, gameplay, AI dialogue, co-op, purchases and support; authenticate requests; prevent abuse, fraud and security incidents; enforce service limits; maintain required financial records; comply with law; and improve the game using the statistics described above, including limited experimentation with gameplay pacing, such as the point at which free-tier prompts appear. Authorized staff may view case content, including interrogation text and team chat, when needed to provide support, investigate abuse, or keep the game working correctly.

Where EEA or UK law applies, these uses rely on performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, legal obligations, and your choice for optional microphone use or diagnostics. Information required for an account or online play must be provided for those features to work.

4. AI and speech services

To generate and evaluate dialogue, your submitted question, relevant conversation history, replies and necessary fictional context are sent to an AI service provider — currently OpenAI, with Anthropic as a backup — under commercial terms that do not permit training on this content. Account, purchase and team-channel information is not intentionally included. We do not use this content to train models or authorize providers to do so. A provider may retain API data for limited service or safety purposes under our commercial arrangement. If we add or change providers, we will update this policy first. Do not submit real sensitive or confidential information in an interrogation.

Optional dictation uses Apple or Android speech recognition and may be processed on-device or by the platform provider. Help Protect does not intentionally receive or retain raw microphone audio. Recognized text becomes game content only if you submit it.

5. When information is disclosed

We disclose information only as needed to infrastructure and AI providers, Apple and Google, your co-op teammates, professional advisers or transaction participants, and authorities or others when legally required or necessary to protect rights and safety. A successor to the business may receive information subject to this policy and applicable notice requirements.

We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, use data brokers, or show third-party ads.

6. Retention

Deleted information may remain in restricted disaster-recovery backups for up to 35 days and may be kept longer where law, legal hold, safety, fraud prevention or a dispute requires it.

7. Your rights and account deletion

Depending on your location, you may request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction or objection; withdraw consent; appeal our response; and complain to a regulator. We do not discriminate for exercising a privacy right. California residents may also use an authorized agent. Because we do not sell/share data for behavioral advertising or use sensitive data to infer characteristics, those opt-outs do not apply to our current practices.

Delete an account in the app through Case menu → Settings → Account Docket → Delete Account, or use murderoflies.com/delete-account. We may verify requests made outside the app.

When you confirm deletion, you are signed out on every device and the account is scheduled for permanent erasure after a 7-day grace period. The grace period lets you recover from an accidental deletion and prevents deletion from being used to reset free-tier allowances. If you sign in during the window, you will be asked whether to cancel the deletion; if you do nothing, the account and associated data are permanently erased once the window ends — erasure sweeps run at least daily. Shared cases may remain for other players after your identity and distinguishable contributions are removed. Required financial/legal records and restricted backups remain only for the periods above.

Deleting the game account does not cancel a subscription controlled by Apple or Google. Cancel it through the applicable store first. Once erasure completes, deletion cannot be undone.

8. Children, transfers and security

The game is not directed to children under 13. Its neutral age screen evaluates eligibility without sending or storing the entered birth year. A permitted minor must have guardian authorization where required. Contact us if you believe we hold information from an ineligible child.

Information is primarily processed in the United States and may be processed where our providers operate. Where required, we use an adequacy decision, standard contractual clauses, the UK addendum, or another lawful transfer safeguard.

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the service. No system is perfectly secure; we provide breach notices when law requires. We do not use personal information for solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.

9. Changes and contact

We will post revisions with a new effective date and version. We will provide appropriate notice before a material new use of existing information and request affirmative consent where law requires it.

Send privacy questions, requests or appeals to Help Protect, LLC through helpprotect.net. Identify Murder of Lies and use the account email where relevant. EEA and UK residents may also complain to their local data-protection authority.
